Larry Harte: Mayor of Glendale, CO

Born and raised in Green Bay and Cincinnati, Larry graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Vanderbilt University. After moving to Colorado, he began to focus his efforts on creating positive change in his local community. Making a noticeable impact in a short period of time, Larry was elected to the Glendale City Council in April 2002 and soon after, in 2004 was elected the Major of Glendale.

In 2005, the Greater Glendale Chamber of Commerce named Larry its Executive Director.  His main goal was to encourage the city's business community to become more involved with both its residential community and with the city government. Successfully creating cohesion between all sides of Glendale, Larry and the City Council have focused on fulfilling the vision of creating an urban village.  Glendale has evolved into a friendly place to live and work with a small town feel - a place where people know one another. 

Currently renowned as 'Rugbytown USA', it has become a neighborhood filled with active living components including pedestrian and bicycle friendly areas complete with plenty of parks, shopping and restaurants.

When Larry is not fulfilling his many community duties on the Glendale City Planning Commission, Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) the Colorado Municipal League (CML) and others, you might find him listening to music, biking, playing soccer or spending time with his lovely wife and two fantastic children.

Why DMG: Larry needed help transforming the Glendale Chamber of Commerce website into an information resource for both its membership and the community at large. He wanted to create value for the members by making the site an active exchange of ideas using social media. He brought Ariel in to show his webmasters how to make the site searchable and to highlighted the contributions and ideas of all those involved in the Chamber.
